Oyster Pond: a picturesque marina between the Dutch and French side

Right on the border between the French and the Dutch side of the island lies Oyster Pond. It doesn't have a beach, but a picturesque harbor that protects sailboats and charters from the choppy Atlantic ocean. It is a pretty marina with a few good and popular waterfront restaurant, for example Captain Oliver's.

Oyster Pond or Oyster Bay is a great location on the Atlantic side of St. Maarten and St. Martin. Captain Oliver´s by the waterfront of Oyster Pond Marina is the main place to go. Head for a casual lunch, the lobster buffet on some weekend nights, or a Sunday Brunch! Or take a 5 minutes ride (by car or on the water taxi) to get to next door Dawn Beach and relax on a casual beach! The marina is also the starting point for a ferry to St. Barth.

Picturesque Oyster Pond Marina

Babit Point, the peninsula to the left encircles the bay and transforms it to an ideal protected harbor. The narrow inlet between Babit Point (French side) and Oyster Bay Resort (Dutch side) is a challenge to sailors and some had to pay with the loss of their boats.

Oyster Bay or Oyster Pond is facing the Atlantic, it can be windy and a bit more rough at times, although the reef protects the area very well. It's a sailor's paradise and starting point for Caribbean sailing tours.

Behind and above the marina are a few small hotels and budget oriented rental properties converted from former hotels in this area. These apartments are very attractively priced.
